Eco friendly initiatives at Gharkul

Being  far away from the city, Gharkul needed to be self sufficient in terms of energy and water which is quite erratic in the rural area. The place has a large biogas plant which utilizes all the wet-waste generated there including kitchen and garden waste. A part of the requirement for cooking is taken care by this gas. The slurry is then used in the garden keeping it lush green throughout the year. The solar power set – up ensures all rooms are lit 24×7 which immensely helps the elderly. A rainwater harvesting mechanism is also in the pipeline and will be erected very soon.
